Benchmark Foam High Density EPS Geofoam Application for Ice Skating Rink
Already offering superior strength and durabilty, high density expanded polystyrene (EPS) offers a dual purpose in an unusual geofoam application. One of our customers wanted to use Benchmark Foam’s high density EPS geofoam as an insulated filler to even out the ground prior to assembling a professional ice skating rink on top.
The high density EPS helped to level the dips and mounds on the field, while also preventing the ice on the rink from freezing the turf below. The lightweight, yet durable EPS allowed the install crew to lay out the insulation as the rink footprint before covering it was an interlocking protective floor.
